Three boys, Protestant, Catholic and Jewish, were discussing how
they celebrated Christmas. After the Catholic and Protestant boys
gave their version, they turned to the Jewish boy for his version.
He said they all go to Daddy's store and sing, "What a friend we
have in Jesus." That's stereotyping, but it is significant that those
who do not recognize the Messiah, profit from His celebration.

Are you caught up in the frenzy of Christmas shopping? How did
the simple stable birth of one obscure Jewish child ever get turned
into the biggest commercial venture of every year? The very ones
generating all this business and profiting from it, generally don't
even acknowledge the one who unwittingly started it all.

The word "Christmas" is used less and less as the world tries to
separate the "Holidays" from the reason for the season. They want
to get the Christ out of Christmas, but you can't. His name is an
integral part of the word -- thus, the sustained effort to change the
season to "The Holidays." I guess we can't complain too loudly
because the word Christmas is not a sacred word -- you won't find
it anywhere in the Bible, so those trying to eliminate it are only
defying Christian tradition and not theological dogma.

The denial of the Messiah by the Jews is stated this way in John
1:11 & 12 (nlt), "Even in His own land and among His own people,
He was not accepted (still isn't). But to all who believed Him and
accepted Him, He gave thre right to become children of God." We
who believe are the ones who really have the right to sing, "What a
Friend We Have in Jesus!?
