Ignorance simply means lack of knowledge. In this case, ignorance of God’s word refers to blindness. An ignorant Christian cannot see at all, he lacks spiritual awareness.
No sickness is good but ignorance is the worst sickness a man will ever suffer in his life. The devil builds his camp around ignorant men. The devil actually knows when a Christian is ignorant and he never fails to take advantage of that. It’s an opportunity for him. He messes up the life of uninformed born again Christians. A Christian who is ignorant of whom he is has automatically become a victim; you have already fallen victim just for being ignorant. No Christian is powerless but how many Christians know and value that reality. Do you know what you can do? Are you actually aware of what you have? You should be a Christian with the full knowledge of whom the Christian is. A Christian who doesn’t know whom the Christian is cannot function as a Christian. Take a look at the story of David and goliath of Gath. This is a story known by almost everyone, but there is something very striking about that event. The truth is that David defeated goliath because of his knowledge. Look what David said in the last part of verse 26 of second Samuel chapter 17. It will be nice if you read from the first verse of chapter 17 but there’s something about verse 26. David said, “for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” David knew goliath was unholy to “defy the armies of the living God”. He also knew that the people of Israel were “the armies of the living God”. This is really mind blowing. He knew he was a child of covenant and for that reason; goliath became a chicken in his eyes. He so much valued the fact that he is a child of the “living God”; a child of covenant and that gave him the audacity to stand before this great giant, his knowledge boosted him against goliath.

The knowledge of who you are produces in you the audacity to stand against strong holds. Not so many Christians know how dangerous they are to the forces of darkness.
Never leave your life ignorant of God’s word, its tragedy. Ignorance of God’s word is total darkness. No wonder darkness surrounds so many Christians today. That’s how the devil comes in because he operates in the dark. Darkness attracts the devil. He only operates in an environment of darkness because he is darkness himself. But if you can put on the light (The word), he will stay clear from you. The devil can’t operate where there is light. A Christian surrounds himself with light when he is acquainted with the word. If you can eat the word all the time, Satan can’t operate around you because the light of God’s word will keep him abbey. That’s why ignorance is darkness. An ignorant Christian is a light surrounded by darkness. Do you know why the devil would battle a family? It’s the absence of light (knowledge of God’s Word). Why would the devil torment a Christian, it’s the absence of light (knowledge of God’s word) not that he has the right to do so, the right to do that has been taken away from him long ago.
Darkness and light never brawl; the presence of one is as a result of the absence of the other. Darkness only comes when the light is absent, but when the light is put on, darkness flees without any scuffle. I have said already that the devil is darkness and will always operate in an environment where there is darkness. Get acquainted with God’s word and put it to work; it will put the devil on the run. Any little moment of darkness (absence of the Word) would be an opportunity for the devil to strike. He is always responsive to such opportunities, he seeks that prospect and your duty is to make sure he doesn’t get it. The only way a Christian can enjoy victory in this world is to get the knowledge of the word and put it work.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge….” (Hosea 4:6). Notice, he didn’t say “for the devil is too powerful”. If you lack knowledge, the devil could destroy you even if you are a Christian because the bible clearly said; “My People” God was actually referring to his people, the Christians. I mean, if the problem was that the devil is too powerful, he would have said that.

It’s so much startling how so many Christians abdicate knowledge. God brought us the report of all he has accomplished for us through the death and resurrection of Jesus and some folks will substitute this knowledge for empty matters.
“Woe unto those who rise early in the morning, that they may pursue strong drink, who tarry late into the night till wine inflames them!
They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the lord, neither do they consider the operation of his hands.”
The knowledge of God’s word gives a man complete freedom and despite that, some folks would go for craps rather than the divine knowledge of God’s word; Christians who are very serious and eager for things that will never breed them spiritually. “Therefore My people go into captivity without knowing it because they have no knowledge and their honorable men (there glory) are famished, and their common people are parched with thirs”t.
Tell me why it won’t happen that way? What will ever stop you from being captivated by Satan, when the knowledge which you ought to function by is ignored? Can a fish remain alive when taken out of water? No! The word of God gave birth to you and you are preserved by that same word.
“Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.” (Pr 8:10)
The scripture above tells you how God values knowledge more than any other material thing. God knows that some folks will discard knowledge just to die for silver and gold. God’s plan is not to give you silver and gold; he wants you to be the producer of silver and gold just by knowledge.
Do you know why God said so? That’s because the silver and gold comes from the knowledge you receive from God. Silver and gold, none can be compared to knowledge. A Christian who has the knowledge of God’s word has become a source of silver and gold. You should know that there are other great things just as important as silver and gold. So if all you have and live for is silver and gold, how about other things? Things like health and safety. Knowledge of God’s Word gives you the full package. That’s why knowledge should be given the first place for “…through knowledge shall the just be delivered”. (Prov 11:9).
The bible said that we are sons, if you got born again today you are a son; a son of God. “Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ”.
This is one big difference between the Old Testament Christians and the New Testament Christians. The Old Testament Christians where not born again, they were not actually born by God and for that, they lived as servants of Jehovah but the New testament Christians are born again; you are born of God, so that makes you a son of God. The spirit of the lord revealed this to us for a purpose; he revealed this so as to make us understand that we are sons and that we should live as sons and not servants. There is a very big difference between a son and a servant. The right of a servant in the palace is very much limited compared to the right of a son. It is the son that owns the estate, he has every right to take advantage of whatever he wants in the palace, and it all belongs to him but see were the problem is; …the heir, as long as he is a child, is no better than a slave, though he is the owner of all the estate. As long as the prince; the son; the heir is a child, he would always live like he has nothing. Ignorance has enslaved so many sons today. How can you live like a prince when you don’t know whom a prince is? You can’t. This tells you that the level where you are today is as a result of the amount of Knowledge you’ve got in you. Your altitude in life is determined by the amount of God’s word you know and put to work; for life itself is a function of knowledge.
So many Christians are sons with the slave mentality, suffering for nothing just because they lack knowledge. The child God was referring to in the book of Galatians is not actually physical children but the spiritual kindergartens. There are Christians who are mentally, physical and intellectually matured but spiritually nowhere. That’s why you see quality Christians without a quality life.
It’s a man of knowledge that can properly take care of the devil; it’s not all about prayers like some people think. Prayer can only achieve little or nothing for an ignorant man. What will you say in your prayer? You’ve got to know what to say in your prayers for prayer has rules and if not guarded by the rules, you will get nothing done, it doesn’t matter how long you spend in your prayers.
Take a look at what we’ve got here in the book of 1Jo 5:14, it says “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”
The point is clear, if we ask anything according to his will”, that’s the rule and that also means that if you don’t pray according to his will, it doesn’t matter how long you pray, you will get nothing done. What is “his will”? His will is in his word. It means you’ve got to know his word so as to pray accordingly, when you have gotten the knowledge of his will then you don’t have to pray a powerful prayer, just pray to a powerful God. Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. (2 Co 2:11).
