In today’s post, I wanted to start by quoting Josh McDowell in Evidence That Demands a Verdict, Vol. 1, Here’s Life Publishers, 1989.

“A lawyer once asked Jesus, “Sir, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses? To which Jesus relied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind. This is the first and great commandment.” Josh goes on to say, “God created man with the ability to think, to acquire knowledge and to discern truth. God wants us to use our minds.”

God never expected blind faith from us. He wants to show us evidential powerful proofs of His existence and of His love for us. My challenge to you the reader is to examine the evidence before us and reach the conclusion it all points to.

GODISNOWHERE

GOD IS NOW HERE

The first line is confusing. It could be saying God is no where (Atheism), or God is now here (the message of the Christian faith). A couple of simple word separations gives us a clear meaning. That is what I want to do: shed some clarity on all the confusion about God and faith and Jesus.

We’ll begin with the Book that comes from God, the Bible, also known as the Word of God and the Holy Scriptures. Let me paraphrase a portion of Josh’s Evidence book mentioned above.

The Bible is unique among all other books ever written. It was written over a span of 1,500 years and forty generations of people. God gave inspiration to over forty different authors! To me, this is simply astounding! Today, put, say, five people, who all speak the same language, live in the same town, went to the same school, in a room with laptops, and let them all contribute to writing a 1,000 page treatise on a controversial subject like politics.

Would there be perfect harmony, agreement, continuity of theme and expression and viewpoint? I don’t think so. I have studied the Bible for 37 years, and I can tell you it is unified in content, vision, thought, purpose from beginning to end. Thousands of scholars from all different eras of time, who have given their whole lives to studying the Scriptures, will attest to the same thing: the Bible is a supernatural book, and it is from Him. Glory to God!
