A THANKFUL HEART.
A thankful heart is a rare virtue, if I may call it that, and it keeps the channel for God’s blessings open to you. At times, when things don’t go the way we expect, we don’t really need to pray; all we need do is give thanks to God, remember, and tell Him abut how Faithful He’s always been. A heart-filled and sincere “Thank you Father, for everything” sometimes has more value than a few minutes of prayer; so count your blessings.
The Yoruba people have a saying which translates to “Praise/ Thanksgiving is God’s food”. With that in mind, Malachi 3:10 talks about” bringing the tithe into God’s store house, after which God will open the windows of Heaven and…” combine these it says, a grateful/ thankful heart positions you for dwelling under Open Heavens.
Prayer is important, but thanksgiving should come first. 1 Chroncles16:8, Psalm 116:17 & 18, Psalm 100:4
Now, take the story about the 10 lepers for example. Luke 17:12
Jesus spoke the Word, they followed His instruction, and as they were going, all 10 were healed but only 1 returned to give Gory to God. According to verse 14& 19 of this scripture, one can say that all 9 got only healing or restoration of health, but because of a thankful heart, this guy got more than restoration of health, he was blessed.
Another example of one with a thankful heart was David whom I won’t write about here, because the book of Psalms speaks enough for him.
Thanksgiving has 3 levels:
1. Thanking God through praise. (30 fold/ outer court) Psalms 150:6
2. Thanking God through worship in Spirit and in truth (in understanding and in tongues) which can usher in the presence of God to fill your immediate environment. (60 fold/holy place). John 4:24
3. Thanking God, using your life as an instrument of worship i.e living as a Holy Sacrifice to God,pleasing in His sight. Romans 12:1. You simply do this by “walking in Love”, and this makes you a carrier of God’s presence everywhere you go.
So next time you have something bothering you, take a praise break, give thanks, remind God of how faithful He’s been to you, thank Him for His Promises. He said in His Word that He’ll never leave you nor forsake you, but He’ll be with you till the end of time.
If you don’t know what to thank Him for, just praise Him in advance, or better still, sing in the spirit. 1 Cor 14:15
The bible says God loves a cheerful giver, trust me, He also loves a thankful receiver. Selah.
