The second form is by intermixture with H6041; from H6031; depressed (figuratively), in mind (gentle) or circumstances (needy, especially saintly): - humble, lowly, meek, poor`. Compare H6041.

Meekness is patience in the reception of injuries.
It is neither meanness nor a surrender of our rights, nor cowardice; but it is the opposite of sudden anger, of malice, of long-harbored vengeance.
Christ averred His right when He spoke, “If I have done evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why smitest thou me?” (John 18:23).
Paul proclaimed his right when he said, “They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves, and fetch us out,”(Acts 16:37).
We can see that in scripture and in the entirety of the World that Jesus was meek and Paul also, was meek; as for Paul no man, other than Christ endured more wrong, or endured it more patiently than he.
As we know, Christ (before the foundation of the world was laid) He decided to do what He did. To leave all of Heaven, even for just one lost soul, just one! He never lost His deity, yet He did lay aside the expression of it and as a human being, no different than you or I – He came, He saw, He died, He rose, - and He conquered.





Yet the Savior and the apostle Paul were not passionate.

1. Easily moved to anger; easily excited or agitated by injury or insult; applied to persons.

Homer's Achilles is haughty and passionate.

2. Highly excited; vehement; warm; applied to things; as passionate affection; passionate desire; passionate concern.

3. Expressing strong emotion; animated; as passionate eloquence.)

They bore all patiently.
They did not press their rights through thick and thin, or trample down the rights of others to secure their own.
Meekness is the reception of injuries with a belief that God will vindicate us.
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

It little befits us to take the place of God , and to do what He has promised to do.
Meekness produces peace.
It is proof of true greatness of soul.
It comes from a heart too great to be moved by little insults.
It looks upon those who offer them with pity.
He that is constantly windswept; that suffers every little slur or wrong to throw him off balance and to nurture a storm of anger within, is at the mercy of every human that chooses to annoy him.
The person then becomes much like a muddy river bottom, when disturbed – the water becomes cloudy and filled so that once cannot find his way around.
However
Much like an alligator, Crocodile or other predator – a stirring of the water only causes curiosity and just as they can find their prey in that turmoil; so can Satan find you!




Now –

We have yet discovered another truth in our searching of the truth of the Beatitudes that are little broached today –

In this description of the “meek” one may very well see that they fall very short of the mark and of righteousness and sanctification.

Introspection is again called for and forgiveness; both asked and offered seem in order.
