Perfecting Holiness

2Co 7:1
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.


Halleluyah ...
There is filthiness of the flesh and filthiness of the spirit. Both filthiness will keep us away from our father, God Almighty.

Filthiness of the spirit will produce filthiness of flesh and make it manifest.

Because of the pomises of God in His Word to us, we should do well ...
In perfecting ...epiteleo..gk, meaning ...to fulfill further ...accomplish ...do ...finish ...make perfect ...perform,

Holiness ...hagiosune..gk, meaning ...sacredness ...holiness ...pure ...saint ...morally blameless, in the fear of the Lord implies applying yourself to working out consciously to remove all filthiness from your way.

In other words, we are to fulfill further our sacredness or purity in the fear of the Lord

Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Ps 51:6

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Tit 2:12

Jesus said ...
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Mt 5:16

Why?
We are a reading epistles of God in the eyes of the world. The world should see Jesus through you, in word, deed and actions. Apostle Paul said ...

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Phil 3:12

And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 1 Jn 3:3

Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit. 2 Cor 5:5, for a reason that is ...

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Eph 4:12

Are you willing? ...

And the goal of Christ Jesus for us is ...
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: Eph 4:13

Beloved until we reach unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Jesus Christ, we are to continue perfecting holiness in every step of our way towards heaven.
