A Dad's Reflection

God gives us boys
To forge into men
Much joy in this task
Such sorrow in the end.
Hearts weighted heavy
Silhouettes of heads hung
We adults shouldn't stand
Beside the grave of our young.
Oh yes, we shall mourn
Discover new rays of hope
Through remembering in our heart
Seeing new ways to cope.
Perhaps this new vision
God allows us to see
Is a true understanding
That our children are our legacy.
So few years
View not - an inch to a mile
Rather see it for its volume
The many gallons of the smiles.
God's gift of a son
So proud for all to see
Cherish the heartfelt memories
And in the mirror you shall see.
The sight of God's work
Gratitude for time had...
You'll see another of God's blessings
Your son's legacy - His Dad
