Made To Shine (Matthew 5:14-16)

“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lamp stand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (NKJV)

A you read this eWord, I invite you to step into the picture I am seeing in my heart. It is of the Father bringing a new lamp into His house and setting it on a polished wooden table by a window. The house is in the country, and there are no street lights. It is dusk and the natural light is fading. He wipes the lamp clean inside and out, fixes a new bulb in it, and then switches it on, and the room is suddenly filled with light. It is a light that can be seen through the window from far away, and people walking in the darkness outside get their bearings when they see the shining light. That lamp was made to light the way. It was meant to shine and give sight in the darkness. The Father looks at it with pleasure and says “It is good”! His heart is always pleased when we live in fulfillment of the purpose we were made for.

Today Abba God is speaking to many of you who feel that you have not been allowed to shine. People and circumstances may have tried to stop you being who you were called to be, but God has filled you with His Spirit, and released on you a gifting and a calling. You may have felt that your voice is not heard and that your gifting is not acknowledged but things are about to change! The precious Holy Spirit wants you to know that the day you gave your heart to Jesus and received His forgiveness upon your life, you became a lamp that was meant to shine. You were cleaned up on the inside and a bright new bulb was placed within you. Hindrances may have surrounded you but a city set on a hill cannot be hidden. You may feel like no one recognizes what God has placed inside you, but He is opening doors for you that no man could have opened. The power of the Holy Spirit is dispelling the darkness that tried to hide you. As you open your heart and receive this Word, the light of Jesus is breaking off every lie of the enemy that held you down and kept you from shining bright and flying free. Religion may have blocked the light that was meant to burn, but this day, in the mighty name of Jesus, I break off the shackles that came on your hands and feet, and that stopped your prophetic voice. I break off every word curse that came against your heart and mind. I break off the spirit of infirmity that came against your physical body and tried to stop you walking in your calling. You are appointed, you are anointed, and you are stepping into new seasons in the power of the Holy Spirit, in Jesus’ mighty name, amen! I declare that nothing shall hold you back from this day forth. You are not stepping out alone; the mighty Holy Spirit is with you.

God is not looking at whether you are a man, woman or child, or looking at your past. He is not even focusing on your present struggles. He sees you as strong and righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21) and as filled with His presence. He sees the awesome light-giving lamp He designed you to be. He loves you and has a plan for you, and has given all power and authority to you. (Luke 10:19). You are an overcomer and He needs you in His vineyard. I pray that you will begin to see yourself through His eyes from this day, the eyes of a loving Father who sees the best in His child and fully believes that His child will shine in everything he does and make his Daddy proud! When we walk in the fullness of our calling, we bring joy to our Father and we make Him smile!

A city set on a hill cannot ever be hidden; it is seen from many miles around. You have been called to be a living picture of the reality and love of God and you were meant to be seen from afar. You were chosen to shine, so shine freely, for the glory of God, in Jesus’ mighty name, amen!
