What is the secret to life?

Before telling you the secret to life I will preface this first by saying there are a lot of speakers, motivators, self-improvement gurus teaching various philosophies around the world at various conventions and conferences about how to achieve this dream or that goal or how to live out your life purpose.

Ever come across these people?

For example if you want to be rich there's a self-made millionaire more than happy (and for the right price I might add) to tell you how to get rich. You are promised riches if you will only invest in real estate, or stocks and bonds, or commodities or starting your own business. Yes success is almost guaranteed if you will only do what the millionaire tells you to do.

There's even a book out called "The Secret" which explains the law of attraction and how it works to give you what you want.

Humanism defines success in terms of self-actualization and doing what makes you happy and what brings you fulfillment.

This philosophy of humanism defines winners and losers in terms of material possessions, popularity, political power, physical beauty, optimal health etc but the power and authority of God speaks this way through the apostle Paul who was the greatest defender of the faith:

"...for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content." Phil 4;11

6 "But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows." 1 Timothy 6:6-10

That was Paul’s secret of winning in life. "Godliness with contentment"

You can not be a godly person if you do not know Jesus Christ and the power of His resurrection.

So ask yourself 1. Are you a godly person? and 2. Are you content?

Paul expounds this idea in many of his other writings. To the Philippians he says...be content, 4:11
To Timothy…with food and clothes…be content, 6:8, 6:6
To the Hebrews….be content…13:5

It was the healing balm for every ailment in life.

Servants, be content!
Free men, be content!
Unhappy married people, be content!
Widows, be content!
Whatever your calling, be content!

May the Lord richly bless you as you seek to be a godly person who is content.
