The Body

I struggle to go on, but my body is broken
I try to run, but have no feet
I yearn to stand, but my legs are too weak
I reach with my arms, but my hands have gone away
My shoulders are limp
My back has given up
Yet my head stands strong upon my neck
Wisdom always by its side
Knowledge as treasure hidden within

And so it goes on
With all we have been given together
We choose to stand apart
A withering body
Too proud and envious to acknowledge its differences
Too greedy to labor as one
Lest acknowledgement might be the gift of another
Too conversant in itself to recognize its own ignorance
Too arrogant to see the worth in oneness
Or else it could look up and be healed
Flourishing in even greater glory
How distant is sight when affliction remains inside something already saved?
Already raised?

My body, I cry out to you
Our head is our Rock
Let us stand together on what is above
In the understanding of a single Spirit
Each separate in part
Yet we are one
We are one in Him
Let us live as the Truth has ordained
This broken body has now been healed
