It is no more news that God created
everyman for a specific purpose, and that
everyone has his/her own divine assignment
to execute on planet earth. However, little
emphasis has been made, if it has been
made at all, towards explaining the influence
of certain factors that are germane to
fulfilling or executing one's assignment. It is
generally believed that one can stay
anywhere in the world as long as one can
fulfill destiny there; that's all that matters
after all. This is very far from the truth.
One thing i have come to notice is that for
every assignment God gives to a man, there
is a particular place to execute it, and law(s)
governing the assignment or place.
When God created Adam, He blessed him
(Gen. 1:27-30), and thereafter gave him an
assignment (work to do), "to till and to
keep"(Gen. 2:15). However, if one
meticulously read that verse, one will
discover that God specify the particular
place to be tilled and kept by Adam; the
Garden of Eden, and there He placed him.

The Lord God took the man and put him in
the Garden of Eden to till it and keep it.

It must be bore in mind that the Garden of
Eden was not the totality of the land the
Lord God called out of the water; it was only
a portion of the whole firmament.
So the procedure follows that God created
man, blessed and gave him authority(Gen.
1:27-28), placed him in a particular place,
gave the assignment, and then the laws(vs
16-17).

The same was the case when Jesus sent His
disciples on a mission.

Mat. 10:5-7
These twelve Jesus sent out, charging them,
"Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter
no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to
the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And
preach as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of
God is at hand.'

But before then, He also called them, and
gave them authority (Mat.10:1).
The procedure here also follows being called
and given authority, direction to a particular
place, the assignment to be done and the
laws (vs 9-11).
These references bring to the lime light the
important factors that are always attached
or that always accompany and have great
influence on everyone's assignment or
purpose in life.
First, the authority to back you up in the
course of the task. Secondly, the place to
execute the task. And finally, the law(s) to
guide your steps during the task. Failure in
any of these three factors will result to
failure in fulfilling purpose. In fact, the
reason for majority of the unfulfilled
assignments, purpose or destiny could be
traced to failure in one or more of the
aforementioned factors.
Many who know their purpose in life are still
not successful. This is because many at
times we are only bordered about the
purpose, we only care about what God wants
us to do, but we never border to go deep
down knowing the particular place and law
(s) guiding the assignment because we
failed to realise that they have great
influence on whether we will succeed in the
task or not, hence the reason for this write
up.

Much needs not to be said on the authority
aspect because God has automatically
authorized every destiny or purpose man has
to fulfill in life. It is now left to man to
discover the purpose which God has
authorized for him. Once you discover the
purpose, the authority comes automatically.
Authorizing solely depends on God, and as
far as i know, that's a done deal, provided
one can identify one's purpose in life.

Jeremiah 1:5 says
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew
you, and before you were born I consecrated
you; I appointed you a prophet to the
nations."

This implies that God has appointed and
authorized everyone for a specific purpose
prior to birth.

The influence place or location has in
fulfilling destiny, on the other hand, depends
on man. Though God determines the place
to fulfill purpose, but it is man's
responsibility to go there. Failure in this
responsibility will definitely lead to failure in
fulfilling purpose. God promised the children
of Israel a particular land where they are to
be established, but they had to walk miles to
the land. It is worth noting that the
promises were not fulfilled until they took
over the land God has given them. The place
or location one finds oneself is pivotal to
fulfilling destiny in life. This is one of the
factors that deprive people of fulfilling
purpose in life. It has a great influence on it.
Many are actually on the track but in
the wrong place. Numerous people who are
destined to preach the gospel are actually
preaching it but in the wrong place, hence to
the wrong people. Such people cannot
flourish, the promises attached to their
assignment cannot be fulfilled. The secret is
simple; you cannot be established on a land
that does not belong to you. Even if you do,
it's just for some time because sooner or
later, the original owner will come to take
possession of the land.
I wonder what would have happened to the
disciples if they had gone to Samaritans to
preach against Jesus’ instruction; after all,
what matters is to preach the gospel. I am
very certain that His promises for them
wouldn't have come to pass, and also, they
would have suffered severely beyond their
control.
Many at times, when God wants to reward
us, when He wants to visit us to dine with us
and bless us, when He wants to fulfill His
promises, we are not just in the rightful
place. Just like in the case of Adam, when
God came to visit, he was found wanting in
the place he ought to be. And God had to
call, Adam, where are you? The same thing
is applicable to us, when we are located in
the wrong place, life will be full of
wrongfulness.

The promise of God to Abram was not
fulfilled until he got to the land God
prepared for him. He passed through many
cities, the best he got was God's
appearance, not the promises per say. But
when he got to Negeb, the bible says ‘Now
Abram was very rich’. The word ‘now’
emphasizes that it was not until he got
there that he became rich (Read Genesis 12
and 13). Joseph's city was Egypt, though
circumstances lead him there. Thus, there is
a particular city for you. You cannot flourish
until you get there. If you are not in your
destination, you cannot be established. You
cannot take possession, when you are not in
your position. And the promises attached to
your purpose in life will not come to pass if
you are not in your place of primary
assignment. Let me conclude this part by
asking the same question God ask Adam,
Where Are You? In your location, or
someone else's?

If you are fortunate to have discovered your
purpose in life and you are either by
circumstances or by God’s instruction in
your place of assignment, lucky you and I
felicitate with you. That is not all you need
however, there is still one more thing you
have to take into cognizance if you must
succeed and flourish; the laws or rather the
ethics. Just like every profession has its own
ethics, so also every assignment has its own
ethics and law. Failure to follow the ethics
to letter will lead to failure in fulfilling
purpose, regardless of whether you are in the
right location or not.

In the case of Adam, the law was
Gen. 2:16-17
“And the Lord God commanded the man,
saying, 'You may freely eat of every tree of
the garden; but of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the
day that you eat of it you shall die”.

In the case of the disciples,
Mat. 10:9-
“Take no gold, nor silver, nor copper in your
belts, no bag for your journey, nor two
tunics, nor sandals, nor a staff; for the
labourer deserves his food”.

This is rather a delicate stage that everyone
needs to be careful of. This is where Adam
missed it; and no wonder, this is where
majority of people missed it in life too. He
ate what God ordered him not to. He kicked
against the law, he disobeyed and the
aftermath was unpalatable and persist till
date.
There is always a limit set for you, exceeding
this limit is usually undesirable. Truly God
has sent you to a particular place to do a
particular job, and attached to it were great
promises but the promises are not coming
forth; the question you need to ask are; are
you doing it the way He asked you to do it?
Are you keeping His ordinances?

Not doing it the way He wants, or rather not
keeping to the ethics and laws will
jeopardize and restrict His promises, hence,
ending up labouring in futility. I pray that
will not be your case in Jesus name.
Therefore, strict and total obedience is very
paramount and has a great influence on
fulfilling purpose in life. God drove Adam out
of the Garden of Eden because he failed to
abide by the law that accompany his
appointment. Saul's kingdom was taken
away from him because he didn't abide by
the law that govern his appointment. The
same was the case of Uzziah. We can go on
and on.

Obedience, therefore, has a great, if not
greater, influence on fulfilling purpose in life.
There is nothing that dethrones like
disobedience. There is nothing that brings
God wrath like disobedience. And there is
nothing that kills destiny and hinder God
blessings like disobedience. No wonder the
bible says; obedience is better than
sacrifice. Thus, if you are doing the right
thing in the right place, and you are still not
getting it right, and God's promises is not
coming to pass, check your obedience
status. Is it total obedience or partial
obedience?

In conclusion, as discovering the purpose for
one’s life is not seemingly easy, so also is
fulfilling it. Discovering God purpose is one
thing, and fulfilling it is another thing.
Fulfilling is one thing, doing it right i.e doing
it in the right place and to the right people,
is yet another thing. Vast a number of
people are actually doing what God
purposed for them, yet they are not
flourishing, there light is not just shining,
the promises of God are not just springing
forth; the reason is very simple; it is either
they are in the wrong place or they are not
obeying the laws that accompany their
assignment. It is absolutely impossible to do
the right thing in the right place and in the
right way, and not get things right.
Thus, get to know your purpose, your divine
location, and the laws. This could be
achieved by getting close to God, improving
your relationship with Him to the level of
having His spirit in you, and all secrets shall
be revealed unto you. Follow His
instructions to letter and you will flourish.
