PROVOKING SUPERNATURAL INCREASE

And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the LORD blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: For he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him. Genesis 26:1-4, 12-14;

The way the bible describes the increase that Isaac experienced in the land of Gerar clearly shows that it was beyond the ordinary. Right in the midst of a land ravaged by severe famine, Isaac, against all odds, realized harvests of hundredfold, increased greatly and became so prosperous that he was richer than the whole country of the Philistines! This increase obviously was not ordinary, it was supernatural! Supernatural increase is that fruitfulness and expansion which is not subject to natural or physical limitations of any kind. While the famine severely affected both the land and people of Gerar, it appears it had no effects whatsoever on Isaac; the same ground which as a result of famine became barren that it could not yield harvests for the Philistines on one hand, was the same ground that yielded harvests of hundredfold to Isaac on the other hand! Anyone can experience expansion in one form or the other, but there’s a supernatural enlargement which comes only from above, it’s only those who have discovered the secrets that will experience unlimited increase which no physical or any other contrary force can prevent!

For everyone who desires supernatural increase, it’s important to understand the secrets of Isaac’s divine enlargement. Firstly, Isaac had a plan: his plan was to go down to Egypt, probably in search of greener pasture because of the famine that was biting the land of Gerar so hard. However, God intercepted that plan and changed Isaac’s direction. To Isaac, Egypt looked very attractive and was the place that held a lot of prospects at that time, but to the Almighty God who sees what no one else sees, Gerar was the place where Isaac’s increase and prosperity had been divinely planted. It’s noteworthy that Isaac did not argue when God changed the plans, but simply obeyed God’s instructions by staying put in Gerar, and this was the key that opened the doors of supernatural increase for him. The first thing that provokes supernatural increase is complete obedience; anytime you obey God, heaven responds! The doors of supernatural greatness have closed on a lot of people because of life of disobedience; unlike Isaac, many people will never allow God to change the plans they have made for themselves, even when such plans are clearly leading them into destruction. It’s important to remind ourselves that there’s no future in our own plans no matter how beautiful they may be, our future is in the plan of God for our lives!

Another vital secret of Isaac’s uncommon harvests is that God was with him. Given the abiding presence of the Almighty God with Isaac, the land which became barren as a result of severe famine began to yield multiple harvests for him. As a believer, you must realize that your greatest asset in life is not money or any other material possession, your greatest asset is the presence of God! It does not matter how much people, possessions, support, privileges or opportunities you have around your life, if God is not with you, you’re ruined! The scripture says ‘if God be for us who can be against us’? If the Lord is with a man, the things which are working against other people will be divinely ordered to work in his own favour. This exactly was what happened to Isaac in Gerar. Sometimes what we need may necessarily not be change of location, if we have the assurance that God is with us. Today many people are dying to travel abroad in search of greener pastures and would do anything like falsifying records, ‘arrange marriage’ and all sorts of unrighteous things just to relocate abroad. You must realize that if your fruitfulness and increase has been divinely planted in a particular place, you will do yourself no good by detaching yourself from that place. It’s not possible to expect God to be with you when you have willfully disobeyed His instructions or detached yourself from where He has located you.

In addition, Isaac provoked supernatural increase and enlargement because he chose to sow in the land of Gerar. You may be rightly located and enjoy the presence of God, but if you’re not prepared to release the seeds in your possession, supernatural increase may never come your way. Giving sacrificially is one of the best ways to get God committed to your affairs; no one can enter into the realm of supernatural increase without sacrificial giving. One of the indisputable laws of harvest is that the size of your seeds sown will determine the size of your harvests. If you want uncommon increase and expansion, you must be prepared to give unusual offering. 2Cor. 9:6 says ‘But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully’.

Finally, Isaac entered into the realm of uncommon fruitfulness and greatness because he was operating under the Abrahamic covenant. Anybody can be rich, but there’s a blessing that is accessible only by those who are operating under God’s divine covenant. If you are in Christ, you’re under an everlasting covenant that gives you access to the abundant riches of God. The death and resurrection of Christ has brought us abundant life, and we have right to enjoy supernatural increase without limits in every aspect of life. The safest place to be is inside Christ; come into Christ today and you’ll have access to all spiritual blessings in heavenly places.
