My Father's Mind...Felix Obi


I was on my Father's mind when the heavens were unfolded
when the entire cosmos was held in pitch darkness
when the whole earth was amoeboid and formless
when no life form ever existed... I still was on His mind.

I was on my Father's mind when the first light blazed forth
and darkness in swiftness sprinted to a coven of fear
having only the night time to rule and reign over men
I was on His mind when the sun gave her pristine smile
and when the moon learnt to shimmer in innocence

I was on my Father's mind when there was no history
when time was locked up in the womb of eternity
and when no sundials acted as the umpire of life
In His mind was my face etched as He brooded
over the mass of matter that kept the earth eerie

I was on His mind when the greens meandered from underneath
when tree trunks elongated to catch a glimpse of life
Deep in His heart I nestled when the birds chirped in joy
And the beasts of the field galloped about with gusto
playing a jolly game with members of this kingdom


At the cool of evening when the sun's cadence
tapered to the slow rhythm of nature and heaven
When the River of Eden was awash with golden hues
of the sun which danced towards the occident ends of earth
And Long before Adam sang the first ballad to Eve
By the banks of the Great River Euphrates
Even then, my face was stamped into my father's heart

I was on my Father's mind for eons of years
Long before my mother as a damsel crossed
The paths of a prince charming in search of love
And in whose heart she found true and unfeigned love
A love ,stronger than the treachery and violonce of death

In my Father's mind,deep in His heart you find me
And ever will I recline in the comfort of His bosom
when the tremors and the turmoils of life on earth
Pummel my heart with fear and stings of despair

For this I wean my heart like a child each dawn of life
His love finds me with each descent of dew every morn
And in the even' time His showers of love pelt on me softly
To reassure me of His steadfast love which never fades
And for this will I keep cool ,unloaded of burdens of anxiety
Even if the sky flees away in fear of evil and wickedness
Deep in my Father's MIND has my face being etched forever...!
