In the ministry of speaking or writing, many elements are included when the Bible tells us to fulfill our ministry. In II Timothy 4:5 it says "But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." Here are twelve things we need to pay attention to, or in some cases ignore, when it comes to carrying out this command.

One, we must teach and preach with gentleness and patience. This is taught in II Timothy 4:2, Galatians 6:1-2, II Timothy 2:23-26, I Thessalonians 2:7-8, 11-12, and I Timothy 3:3.

Two, teachers of the truth are told to correct, train in righteousness, and when necessary, to rebuke and correct. See II Timothy 3:16, 4:2, and Colossians 1:25-28.

Three, we must be instant in season and out of season, as mentioned in II Timothy 4:2.

Four, don't waste our time discussing myths, endless geneologies, or speculations. I Timothy 1:3-4,6, I Timothy 6:4, II Timothy 2:23, and Titus 3:9

Five, we must teach with accuracy. II Timothy 2:15

Six, those of us who teach the truth of scripture must be able to defend our teaching. I Peter 3:5

Seven, our ministry should be in keeping with our spiritual giftedness. I Peter 4:10, and I Timothy 4:14

Eight, do not lose heart or become discouraged. There are many reminders of this given in the following passages: Colossians 1:28-29, 3:23-24,4:17, Galatians 6:9, Isaiah 55:11, and John 15:5.

Nine, hold fast to the truth in the midst of hardship and persecution. I Peter 4:14, II Timothy 4:5, and Hebrews 12:1-2.

Ten, try to minimize the clutter in our life in order to be focused on our ministry. II Timothy 2:4, and Hebrews 12:1-2

Eleven, seek God's guidance in seeing our ministry enlarge. Proverbs 3:5-6, 16:9, 19:21, and Psalm 32:8

Twelve, what should our core message be? According to I Corinthians 1:23 it should be to preach Christ crucified.
