Sunday 6/9/13 Pastor Michael sermon The Triumphant Return - Preparing For the Future! Rev 1:3, 5-8

A lot of people have a hard time letting go of the past. We need to learn to let it go and think of the future. Yes you didn’t get the job. Yes he or she cheated on you. Yes your family caused you deep pain--Let it Go! You have to let it go. Some things that life hits us with, we must let it go to get to our future. Things that happened for just 10 minutes, we hold on to for years. Let it Go! Let it Go!

In our text, John was put on an island as a prison. Instead of him getting bitter, he got better. If the trial didn’t kill us, it is there to help us get stronger and better. God is preparing us for where he is taking us. To get there we have to let our baggage go! John understood that God allowed him to go thru stuff to prepare him for the future that God had for him. God causes all things to work together for our good! We lost our job, lost our family but God will work it all out for our good. We may not see it today but God will turn things around to work for our good.

We must acknowledge Jesus’s position because He is coming back. In verse 5 Jesus went thru all the stuff he went through and He still lives. We go thru stuff and wonder how we made it through. It is because Jesus had the victory over it so we have the victory over it too!! We have access to the blessing because of Jesus. It is not about us, but it is about who we are with! Jesus! It is Jesus’s position that causes me to triumph! God is very faithful. He will not let any temptation above what I can handle come to me. We can’t stay down. We bounce back from taking the devil’s best shot. It is because we have Jesus! Bounce Back! We are coming up out of this trial too! Bounce Back! Give God a Bounce Back Praise!!!

In verse 6, our connection to Jesus makes us Kings and Priests. In the Old Testament, priests had access to God in the tabernacle or temple. Now we through Jesus Christ, have access to God as Kings and Priests. We have access to God continually. We can be anywhere—in the car, at home, in church and God hears us! We need to ask God what we should and shouldn’t do concerning business. We need to listen!! We are royalty-Kings and Priest. We don’t have to walk around like we have no hope. If we are broke, ask God for some money. If we have no victory, ask God for victory. Our daddy had the money, the victory that we need! Ask and He will give it to us.

Those of us who know Jesus, know that when things on earth get bad, its close to the time when Jesus parts the clouds and comes back to get us. We all have reservations-tickets to Heaven. VIP season tickets are what we have for Heaven. Don’t get upset about what is going on down here on earth because we have season tickets, reserved seats in Heaven! Reserved Seats! This is not our home! We are just passing through! Wear the world like a loose garment! Shake it off! Shake it off!
