Sunday 5/26/13 Pastor Michael sermon The Place of Blessing-The Impact of the House of God Psalms 84:1-12

God has a designated place for our blessing. Sometimes God has to get us out of our comfortable place in order to bless us in the right place. God wants us to be in the right place at the right time. The place He has chosen for us can be a most challenging place for God to bless us. God had told Abraham to move from his family and to go to a new place so God could bless him there. Noah preached for 120 years that it was going to rain. He was obedient and got into the ark, a new place, and God blessed him.

Sometimes we think God has taken us to a place that’s desert and dry. But it is a place of preparation like the wilderness was for Moses and the Israelites. With Moses and the Israelites, God took them out of Egypt in one day to go to their new place. But it took 40 years to get Egypt of them! Joshua was the one used by God to take a new generation of Israelites to their new place. We need to rely on God, the one who blesses, instead of relying on the blessing or the place of blessing. In the text, David is talking about going into the temple to meet God. The place of blessing is God’s House.

1) We Have to Praise God in His House:
People should use their opportunity to praise God in his house. We are gathering to thank God for what he’s done for us. Praise the Lord! Give thanksgiving to the Lord God Almighty! We have been thru hell and don’t smell like smoke! Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus! Thank you God! The House of God is the designated place to give God Praise. When we are in church, we should look for God! Praise the Lord! The White house is for the President, the State house is for the Governor, the courthouse is for the Judge, the crack house is for the crack head. God’s house is for God! Act like it and Praise the Lord!!

Verse 1 When we get in God’s presence, it feels good to us. In God’s presence there is joy and we get happy. God’s presence makes stuff look better too! We look better in God’s presence!

Verse 2 Our souls long for the House of the Lord. Something happens when we all come together and praise God. The glory of God comes in on us.

2) God’s House is a Place to Experience the Power of God:
verse 5 We get strengthened when we are on the way to the House of God. This is because we remember the power of God we felt the last time we were in His presence in His house. In our car, we think about something that God did and we start thanking and praising God. We also are thanking God for the last time we were in his presence in the House of God. We are empowered by God to go back into the world and fight the demons of this world. It’s a fight that we know we win with God’s power!! We can Do and Be what God says!!! We know what God did for us the last time!! We can fight and win because God said it and that’s it!!!

3) God’s House is a Place to Enjoy the Peace of God:
verse 10 It is better to be one day in God’s House, in God’s presence than 1,000 days out of God’s presence. It is better to be an usher in church than be in a millionaire’s house, in the place of the wicked. The blessing is in God’s House!

Psalm 92:12 A righteous man shall flourish like the palm tree. In storms palm trees flourish. We can be like a palm tree and grow in hard times. We can be like a cedar tree= unmovable.

Psalm 92:13 Those who are planted in the House of the Lord will flourish. Planted things have roots systems in the ground. They get all their nourishment through their roots. Some people just come to church and are not connected so they get very little. They don’t come to Bible study or Sunday school or revivals or any other sessions at church. Planted folk are the ones who will flourish with the Grace, Glory and Favor of God. They are in the place of Blessing, the House of God.
