“Leadership”


What is leadership? I believe that leadership is influence. More importantly, leadership is Christ likeness. To lead is to serve. Leadership is also about motivating and encouraging people in your organization or company to be the best they can be. Leadership is done by example. As a leader, you never ask someone to do something that you would not do yourself.

In corporate America and the public sectors of business, there are many leaders but too few servants. A title does not qualify you to be a leader. Nor, does a college degree. A real leaders` job is not to put you down but lift you up. In order to be a leader you must be a follower. As Christians, we follow the Lord Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith who gave us the greatest example of leadership.

Leaders address problems not mask them. These individuals address the issues beneath the surface in order to deal with the dilemmas above the surface. One of the reasons why our businesses, lives and country is in decline is because we have not dealt with the challenges that we are currently faced with.

Success and failure begins and end with leadership. Good leaders are compassionate, humble and understanding not pushovers. They do not place profits over people. Sound leaders operate from a good heart in the spirit of love. Moreover, I believe that sound leaders are contributors to society and not in favor of special interests groups.

This world has seen many leaders some good and many bad, but a true leader will let his light shine so bright that people would say that’s a child of God. Leaders have the courage to make decisions and admit failure without placing the blame on others. Effective leadership comes with a price and there is no price tag affixed because the price must be paid daily.

In conclusion, genuine leadership is the main ingredient to the recipe of any successful person or organization. It separates the be and doers from the wishers and do nothing ers. Leadership is hard work and not easy. What we need is a true man of God with the spirit of Jesus Christ who is God in the flesh, to lead the people as he follows Christ. Amen.
