STRESSed Out? Get Over It!

We all have stress in our lives. How we view stress and our approach to it makes all the difference. When stress comes into our lives, can we get over it, and if so, how? We can learn from God’s Word in dealing with the stress and anxiety in our lives.

Spend time with God - If I don’t read God’s Word and pray I just cause myself a lot of unnecessary anxiety, headaches, and perhaps in the long run, emotional and physical strain on the mind and body. 

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.  
Psalm 139:22-24

Trust and thank God -- Thank you Father, for caring for my every need – however big or small they may be. You have everything under control. I do not need to worry about it.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.  Proverbs 3:5-6
 

Rest – Help me learn to rest in You Father. I just want to rest in you – leave everything at the foot of the cross of Jesus who paid the price for my every need.

Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

Experience God – Father, especially in times of uncertainty, conflict, and life’s difficulties, I need to experience You as You meet my every need.

And my God will meet all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19

Surely God can handle my problems. 

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6

 Simply leave it at the cross. Help me live my life simply and not carry around extra baggage that just weighs me down.  Give it to God and leave it in His hands.

                  Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.  I Peter 5:7


Father, I know that stress does not come from You. It is the work of the enemy. My desire is to come to You with every situation in my life and leave it at the foot of the cross. You created the universe! Surely, You can handle my little problems. What is that to You? You are God! I am Your child. Not only can You take care of the stress in my life; but You want to take care of it. You want me to be totally and completely dependent on You for my every need. Help me to just get over it!
