The Lord is asleep in the garden tomb
He is resting in the tranquil earth
He willingly went down to the dead
He is now preaching to the sinners in Hades.

He is in battle with the vindicator
His armor the Cross on which He died
He is releasing the righteous to heaven at last
Having delivered those who were His own.

The garden seems so calm and cool
But it holds the very Savior of the world
This serenity will last but awhile
Thunder and quake will follow by.

The day of darkness is upon the earth
The presence of our Lord is missed
But, the aromatic spices wafting forth
Will soon change into the fragrance of life.

The rock - hewn tomb with stone in place
A holy Sepulchre for the buried Lord
A weeping chamber from the outside
A niche for the one in repose inside.

The garden tomb a pre-eminent place
A historic moment set to reveal
Years of waiting for this day
The resurrection will now have its say.

The garden comes alive at last
The tomb opens with divine effects
The rolling stone is removed forever
Death vanquished forever and ever.

The Risen Lord emerges out
Victory Sign aloft His hand
Darkness will no longer rule
A new life shines as Easter light.
