Smile and the world smiles with you. Snore and you sleep alone!

Last week I had an email from a gentleman that said, "Please
unsubscribe -- you don't cheer me up." Sensing that he was going
through depression, I wrote asking about his problem and how I
could help. He indicated that he was going through the holiday
blues that affect so many people. Perhaps he lost a mate and was
facing that issue. I felt sorry for him. He was a new reader and
had been with me only a few days. Pray for Claude I feel badly
that I couldn't help him.

In my writing I'm aware that I have a very wide cross-section of
people to minister to. Some suffer from a negative outlook while
others are upbeat. How many ways can you keep saying -- Cheer
up, everything will be OK? That pollyannish advice doesn't always
work. Sometimes, those who are down need a gentle kick in the
seat of learning to cajole them into getting off their pity party and
onto the express route to do something about their situation.

I try all different approaches. If something I say today doesn't meet
your need, hang on -- maybe the one tomorrow or the next day will
hit your target. Scripture you read on any given day may not
exactly meet your need that day. E-Cheer can be the same. No
matter what the subject, if I can get you to think about your faith or
lack thereof, then I've reached my goal.

I say to you along with Paul (Rom. 1:12 nlt). "I'm eager to
encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by
yours. In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other."
