THE GREATEST ART EXHIBITION…by FELIX OBI



Bemused at what sight they glimpsed
Angels jostled and shoved each other to see
This great sight so weaved in mystery
A clay statue frosting with breath and life
It had eyes that twinkled like stars
A nose with a soft bridge
A mouth with two clasping gates
Coated with enamel, and seated as white pillars
…Then the clay yawned, squeaked and sneezed!
A resounding charge echoed all around and within him
“Increase, Multiply, Subdue every other clay and dust
And Rule like a suzerain king over all cosmos”
He thus arose, the ground quaked, and trees trembled
Wild beasts stalked into their covens in fear
He strutted like a god, their lord
… At this, the angels marveled!

Artists are generally eccentric folks who live in a world so
strange.Their world view is made up of
strokes,lines,arcs,circles,curves,hues and combination of colours.The
canvas excites and teases them into a frenzy of creativity. They think in
mediums of oil on canvas,pastels, water colours,pencil on paper. Without
the brush,life becomes meaningless,dull and dreary for them.

They show off their creative genius at art exhibitions. You’ll need to
pay heavily to claim any of their masterpieces because they cringe at the
thought of parting with their works.Their work is a part of them.Hence
they append their signatures to every painting or sculptural piece they
make. Michel Angelo’s signature is still over Cistine Chapel’s ceiling at
Rome till date.

As great as artists are,there masterpieces are nothing but the dubbed
copies of the Arch Artist who holds daily exhibitions all over the
world.He was taught by no grand master of arts.He needs no canvas to
paint on, nor does he paint with brushes . He sources no colours to
splash with.His masterpieces have endured the flux and decay of
centuries.So grand and sublime are his works yet he gives them out to
everyone who attends his unending exhibitions freely.None of his works
has any attached price tags,yet they are invaluable!

Some millennia ago,he splashed a panorama of seven colours across the
grey sky convulsing with dark and angry clouds to form a semi-circle.Men
saw it ,were benumbed and called it RAINBOW! But he used no prisms or
chromatography device to separate the colours like men do.Many became
great artists and received accolades for plagiarising his works: his
landscapes,the undulating hills and mountain ranges,the lush greens and
meadows,his breathe- taking snow falls during winter and many more! Many
are enthused by his moving painting…the sunset and sunrise at twilight,
the dancing stars that form a cascade of hope over the night sky.
Many have earned millions from silhouette paintings cast by the smiley
moon at night. Astronomers have earned respect and admiration for just
peering deep into paintings he kept far from reach with telescopes…the
galaxies! Many have received Nobel prizes for having a closer look at his
minute works using microscopes,x-rays,and hi tech scanners! He is a
consummate artist: a painter, sculptor, singer, composer, poet,
craftsman, dramatist, playwrit, actor, producer etc! His works breath and
bubble with life. They can sleep,wake up, and strut around each passing
day.


His greatest work of arts,his masterpiece, has intrigued many for
centuries and has been the subject of un-ending scientific quest for
centuries.It has kept
anatomists,physiologists,biochemists,doctors,nurses,psychologists,social
workers,sociologists,anthropologists,counsellors and many more on their
toes.Volumes have been written and stashed away in libraries of the
world on this work of arts he called MAN!

Though his works are acknowledged,appreciated and respected, yet he
receives little respect from the connoisseurs of his works. He’s owed by
all men, but none has been able to pay him back for his great artifacts
in their possession.But this debt has been man’s greatest undoing making
him restless and unfulfilled for centuries. An amnesty was long ago
offered by Him but not all men have accepted his magnanimous debt
cancellation offer .They toil and work ,hoping that the burden of this
debt will be lifted off the shoulders of their souls ,to no avail..Yet it
takes only but a little stuff to have this debt cleared for many to enjoy
freedom:
Men only need to bow down in adoration and worship before this Arch
Artist who is “ the king eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise
God. To him be glory, and honour and power forever” – Paul the apostle.

Many who encountered him over the centuries longed to know him more.In
him is life as he is the essence of life .We need to love and respect
him ,not for his creativity, but for the fact that he loves us all. We
need God in our lives, else life is worthless and meaningless. He is
worthy of our quest and pursuit .We are unfulfilled and incomplete
without him in our lives!

alone can craft your life so you can become all the best you can ever be
in life.All hail the great king ,the creator of everything.To him be
glory forever and ever…Amen! Till I come your way again,remain blessed
and uplifted.
