Galatians 5:22
But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

I was reminded just yesterday how quickly we give up on others. I received a letter from one of my pen pals for the first time in months. I would like to share a few lines from this letter with you.

I am very sorry for not writing to you for the pass few months. My brother passed away in July & my mother has been very sick also. It had done a number on me, but I am trying to get my head right. I am very glad you did not give up on me for you have a way to make me happy in the worst of times. You give me hope allot of times when I couldn’t even see things right. Thank you very much. I will always remember you & your family and all the times you pull me out of bad times and make me smile with hope that God is always with ALL of us to the end.

During these three months often I would pray for him and would tell God, okay one more letter, just one more letter. If I don’t hear back from him I will “ ASSUME “ he is not interested in hearing from me right now. And GOD never let me give up on him. How I have repented and thanked God for placing conviction in my heart. Would Jim ever trust another Christian who made a commitment to him? One day he will completely understand the TRUTH.... That God had a hold of him. That it was prayer and Gods love for him that gave him hope.

Humbled once again by the Father, I am brought to my knees.. Thinking of all the people in my life whom I had made a commitment to and fell short of. The times I had made promises to my kids only later to back out because I was too tired or had a headache. Or a commitment to loose weight. The list seemed endless. Learning to forgive and let go of those who had broken promises to me. We separate ourselves from those who deeply hurt us and God does not want us to be hurt, BUT God NEVER separates Himself from us NO MATTER WHAT WE DO.

The next time you make a promise to someone, yourself, your kids or God.. Remember those words and honor them at all cost. We are to set an example for the rest of the world. We are NOT BETTER than the world but we are expected to live by Gods standards. I thank God He can forgive me.
