The Missing Commandment Of The Roman Catholic Church

What is the missing commandment of the Roman Catholic church? Here is something I recently discovered after speaking to a minister and was rather shocked.

According to the Roman Catholic church the ten commandments consists of the following below:

“I am the Lord your God:
1. You shall not have strange Gods before me.
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord's day.
4. Honor your father and your mother.
5. You shall not kill.
6. You shall not commit adultery.
7. You shall not steal.
8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
9. You shall not covet your neighbour's wife.
10. You shall not covet your neighbour's goods.” Exodus 20:1-17

Do you notice something missing? It is the second commandment forbidding the worship of graven images.

Now let us contrast the list of ten commandments as found in the teachings of the Roman Catholic church with those found in the Protestant churches using the authorized King James Bible.
The odd numbered sentences come from the Roman Catholic church while the even numbered come from the Protestant church via the King James Bible.

First Commandment
I, the LORD, am your God...You shall not have other gods besides me.

First Commandment
I am the LORD thy God...Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Second Commandment
You shall not take the name of the LORD, your God, in vain.

Second Commandment
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them.

Third Commandment
Remember to keep holy the sabbath day.

Third Commandment
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.

Fourth Commandment
Honor your father and your mother.

Fourth Commandment
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Fifth Commandment
You shall not kill.

Fifth Commandment
Honor thy father and thy mother.

Sixth Commandment
You shall not commit adultery.

Sixth Commandment
Thou shalt not kill.

Seventh Commandment
You shall not steal.

Seventh Commandment
Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Eighth Commandment
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Eighth Commandment
Thou shalt not steal.

Ninth Commandment
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.

Ninth Commandment
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Tenth Commandment
You shall not covet your neighbor's house.

Tenth Commandment
Thou shalt not covet.

Do you see the missing Commandment?

The Bible says in Revelation 22:18 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

The Roman Catholic religion deletes the second commandment and makes the 10th commandment into two commandments. If you follow them all the way down from the second commandment you'll see the Catholic religion is always one ahead of the King James. Finally at the tenth commandment they break it into two and make it the 9th and 10th commandments. What deception! What deceit! Get out your King James Bible and compare. They even corrupt their own Bible by deleting the 2nd commandment! A Catholic can find this in his own Bible (if they have not changed it yet).

Mark 7:5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

Mark 7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

Mark 7:7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Mark 7:8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.

Mark 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

According to the Roman Catholic church it is okay to have images of Mary and of various saints but the Bible says in Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."

Every Roman Catholic church has images of Mary, Jesus and male and female figures. This gives the greater honour to Mary than Jesus. It also clearly breaks the second Commandment forbidding making images of things in heaven. Supposedly these are to help the person better worship God but this is forbidden in Scripture.

That picture of a man hanging on a cross is no more Jesus than your uncle Harry. People have come to think of Jesus as looking a certain way but there is no

Kodak camera that has captured the image of how Jesus looked and it was not God's purpose for us to know this. I think if Jesus came to earth today people would be shocked at how he really looked. All the images of Jesus that man has made must be disregarded and not brought into your homes or cars because to do so is to break the second commandment forbidding graven images.

We must remember that God is an eternal Spirit without a body (although the word became flesh in order to dwell among us) and can not be seen unless He manifests himself to us in some visible way such as He did to Moses in the burning bush in the Old Testament and such as He did in the person of Jesus Christ in the New Testament.

God is a consuming fire and as a Spirit He is compared to the wind which blows where He wills thus speaking of His absolute freedom and sovereignty unless His creation.

Christians must worship God in a right manner or risk His anger and wrath. Remember Nadab and Abihu who offered strange fire before the LORD and were killed. You can read about this in Leviticus 10:1-2. Jesus said, God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." John 4:24

True believers are always interested in truth to both know and to obey. Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love me keep my commandments."

Do you love Jesus? Ask yourself if you are obeying his commandments and if not why not? We are not free to worship God any way we choose. Some religions and denominations think they are wiser than God by choosing to disobey the second commandment and making an image of a saint or Mary or Jesus but this is rank disobedience to the word of God. Let us repent from all such doctrines of men and get back to the Bible which alone and in its entirety is the authority upon which we rest our lives.
