Sunday 12/2/12 Pastor Michael sermon Not Perfect, Just Forgiven Psalms 130:1-8

One of the misconceptions of the faith life is that we live a life of perfection. None of us who are saved, do not STILL struggle with sin issues, flesh issues. Some believers try to make others believe that they don’t wrestle with issues. All of us in here are struggling with some issue. The church world is notorious for pointing out other people’s fault. The reality is that all of us have sinned and fallen short of His glory.
We will struggle until Jesus comes. Forgiveness does not mean we won’t sin. We received a brand new nature thru forgiveness and redemption but we still have our old sin nature. Sometimes God will allow someone to get on our last nerve and words we have forgotten will come out of our mouth!

Jesus called the Pharisees hypocrites because they were trying to impress men while they were full of rotten bones. The truth be told, even those of us who are saved and fire baptized, still struggle. We sometimes need to admit that we DO have issues and moments of defeat. We need to be honest and admit we need Grace and God looking past our faults. We are not perfect, just forgiven!!
We need to thank God EVERYDAY that He covers our mess! We are still humans and have the flesh to deal with! How many times have we said we would never do something and later found ourselves doing it?

When We Are Forgiven

1) Forgiven people are contrite people: verse 1
They are broken people who cry out to the Lord and He meets them.

2) Forgiven people are conscious, aware of what God has done for them:
verse 4-6 These folk are waiting on God to cover them because they remember how He saved them in the past. They have faith He will do it again. They are grateful and thankful for the Lord’s help in what he has done, is doing and will do. They are motivated by appreciation of what Jesus has done for us. Since we met Jesus we are not there yet but on the right track.

When we think of the goodness of Jesus and all that he has done in our lives, we cry Hallelujah! Praise the Lord! Give Him Praise! Praise Him like you just don’t care! High five three people and praise the Lord for him getting us over!

As good as God has been to ALL of us, every time the church door opens, we should be there thanking and praising God!! We are not perfect, just forgiven!!
