Halloween: Hollywood's Favorite Celebration


Today millions of teenagers are enamored by the theme of death. Death is the common thread that runs rampantly through both video games and movies and Hollywood has cashed in on their love of money by taking advantage of this theme.

Besides the big money that Hollywood will generate from selling Halloween costumes there will be many parties where young people gather to dance, get drunk or high on drugs and so act the fool not knowing that God will punish such behavior. Those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Those who are spiritually dead do not walk in the light and so do not see anything wrong with such events but the righteous whose eyes have been opened know that Halloween isn't for Christians. There's no redeeming this event anymore than there is redemption for drunkeness or adultery or murder or homosexuality. All who practice these sins will not see God but will be eternally punished in God's just wrath.

Instead of celebrating life Hollywood celebrates death and thereby glorifies Satan. As believers in Christ we celebrate life and are pro-life but Halloween celebrates death, and the Devil. Satan wants you to be in love with death and this is why Halloween is Satan's favorite celebration too.


Tonight thousands of mostly young people will dress up as their favorite character and for several hours change their identity. One young woman will dress up like a witch or prostitute while some young wanna-be-Johnny Depp will dress up like Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.

Isn't this just a day for having a bit of harmless fun and excitement? In a word no. Christians are to abhor or hate that which is evil and cleave to that which is good. Romans 12:9

Satan wants you to be in love with death instead of life. For this reason on Halloween there are many suicides and murders along with human and animal sacrifices. Cat and dogs turn up missing along with children because some devil worshiper decided to offer up a sacrifice as part of their occult practice. As the Bible says plainly in Proverbs "But he that sins against me wrongs his own soul: all they that hate me love death." Proverbs 8:36

Now one of Satan's most effective and deceptive tactics is to convince people that he, Satan, doesn't exist. But this doesn't solve the problem. Simply ignoring the existence of Satan doesn't make him disappear or make him not real. Satan is real and is part of the fallen creation. When Lucifer the highest of God's angels rebelled against God he fell by his own sin and brought down the human race with him.

"He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil." 1 John 3:8

God is sovereign over His creation not Satan. Halloween is the really the Devil's way of trying to get people to reorder their thinking by making Satan sovereign. Thus Satan is seen as sovereign over pain, death and torture and evil rather than God our creator.

Contrast this idea with Isaiah 45:6-7 "There is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. I form the light and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."

From the above verses we see that the LORD is sovereign and not Satan. Satan is a counterfeit and seeks for men to glorify him rather than God.

Dressing up like ghosts and zombies is proof that people love death and whether they realize it or not they are glorifying death and the Devil rather than God who is blessed forever. We are to do all things for the glory of God whether we eat or drink. Let us put off the works of darkness and celebrate life and the giver of life even the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Way, the Truth and the Life..." John 14:6

Many churches have been deceived by practicing and trying to redeem this Satanic celebration but look at the following verses and see what God says about this matter:


"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them." -Ephesians 5:11

"Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils." -1st Corinthians 10:21

"Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft..." -Galatians 5:19,20

"Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you," -2nd Corinthians 6:17


May the Lord change your thinking if you've ever practiced celebrating this wicked holiday known as Halloween.
