Why do you insist on tarnishing your brother’s name?
Gossip you spread, and you do it all in Jesus’ name?
If you do not comprehend, ask him to explain.
Kill the spirit of hypocrisy - take not the Lord’s name in vain.
Why does my brother despise me?
Why should he see me as the enemy?
Does he not know that I would do anything for him?
All I’m guilty of is caring for him?
Why must we insist on crushing the spirit of each other?
How can we say we love God -
While tearing down our sister and brother?
Have we forgotten the command to love one another?
That’s a command given to us by our Heavenly Father.
Hypocrisy belongs to the enemy.
Do you not long for peace and serenity?
Wish you could see the shackles on your feet,
Oh how my heart weeps for thee.
Until confusion has been removed, which only God Himself can do -
Nothing I say or do will convince you of this truth:
Trading the truth for deception and lies,
For you have been blinded by the scales upon your eyes.

“So get rid of malicious behavior and deceit. Don’t just pretend to be good! Be done with hypocrisy and jealousy and backstabbing. You must crave pure spiritual milk so that you can grow into the fullness of your salvation. Cry out for this nourishment as a baby cries for milk, now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness” (1st Peter 2:1-3).
This is part of a series looking at cleaning up the 'mess' in the church so we can move forward in doing what we are placed here to do (See the great commission in Matthew 28:16-20). God created us for His purpose not our own. We are created to worship Him in spirit and in truth. We cannot do this with iniquity in our hearts. He gave us instructions to Go and teach all nations, making disciples of them, teaching them to observe all the commands He has given us. However, we so often allow the enemy to take our focus off what is important. When this happens we forget who we are in Christ and give the enemy a prominent place in our lives. May this poem be a reminder that we are vessels God wants to use, or continue using for His glory. When we forget our royal status as princes and princesses in God’s Kingdom then we have arrived at the point of repentance and we need to confess our sins and be restored so that we can be vessels of honour.
God doesn’t wish for any of us to die in our sins. Forgiveness is available to the repentant heart. So if you are not walking in God’s will today, don’t stay in the gutters of your life. Get up and make the step towards restoration. Say sorry to those you have hurt and forgive those who have hurt you. Then ask God to forgive and restore (1st John 1:8-10). Stop doing the wrong and continue to do what is right.
“Dear children, don’t let anyone deceive you about this: when people do what is right, it is because they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. But when people keep on sinning, it shows they belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these works of the Devil. Those who have been born into God’s family do not sin, because God’s life is in them. So they can’t keep on sinning, because they have been born of God. So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the Devil. Anyone who does not obey God’s commands and does not love other Christians does not belong to God.” –1st John 3:7-10—
