Onward Christian Soldiers!

My uncle Robert, a soldier who served with General George Patton in World War II, before he died told me of a battle for one of many key positions as Patton moved through France. American soldiers were reportedly trying to re-take positions lost to the German offensive commonly referred to as the Battle of the Bulge and were unsuccessful. Soldiers after soldier toppled, the troops began to panic. Up rode General Patton in his jeep to urge his men on. Encouraged by his presence, tenacity and bravery in exposing himself to the whizzing of German small arm fire, the troops began to cheer General Patton’s presence.

“Don’t cheer for me, men!” Patton called out to them, “Fight! Darn it! Fight! You’re the better soldiers!”

As Christians we need to cheer our Commander, but we also need to get in on the fight. We Christians have Jesus Christ as our Commander, as King and in total control of everything. No one can defeat His Christian army and His Sacred Word. Jesus has stated that no one can take right and truth from those who are His Followers. We (Christians) are the better soldiers! There are people who need us! Darn it! Fight!
Now is the time to fight for our faith, for truth, for Christ—THE Commander-In-Chief!

Prayer: Almighty Father, it is so easy to talk, to be a bystander, so easy to sing Your praises. Now, Father, help me with the hard part.
