Surrounded by a crowd,
The voices were so loud.
Screaming at the top of their voices,
Drowning out all other noises.

"Stone her for the adultery she has committed,
for the sin and shame she has permitted."

She dared not look up to the judgment in the eyes of man.
One wrong word, one wrong move and her blood upon their hand.

She stared at the arduous hot sand,
on which her limp, bruised body would soon land.

A man pushed through the crowds and moved towards her.
His footsteps made the flock only worse and ever stronger.

He wrapped his garment around her, covering up the scarlet letter.
Turned to the people and said “Pick up a stone, anyone of you who is better."

Gradually and ashamed the accusers emptied out seeping through the mass.
Until there was none left except the Master and the lass.

Go your way daughter and sin no more,
I have made you new all the way to the core.
And remember this before you pick up a pebble,
that you too were forgiven just when you stumbled.
