"The Marathon"

I have never ran in a marathon competition and possibly knowing myself I will not try in the future either. 42,5 km to run is not my cup of tea, it even feels a lot if I have to drive that much sometimes hence my admiration to everybody whom are having the strength to do it. A few days ago browsing through the television channels, something caught my eyes. It was the highlight of the 2008 Olympics, particularly the male marathon running, showing Samuel Wanjiru from Kenya the winner of the competition.

It was quite amazing...in fact the beauty of this entire long running is the end...when the runner (specially the front runner) is arriving back into the stadium and the person can do the "honorably" one lap around the field where everybody is cheering for the winner. I was watching Samuel on the screen, in his last lap, he was casual-cool-collected and he was smiling. The entire stadium was his, no other sport activity was taking place. It was him and the cheering crowed.

But than the reality had speared my heart....coming to the realization that I am in a marathon competition and so as you. Doing the miles, day in and day out. And thinking back what Samuel was able to do, I wanna do it one day as well...

At the end of my race, I would like to have the opportunity to do that final lap (even if I am not the front runner)...knowing that my running coming to an end, hence the "honorably" lap would be nice.

Doing that last lap to Honor Him...and the crowed would be filled with people, friends and loved ones whom has done this race long before I did but now they are there to cheer for you and me...and I also wish to smile on the last 100 meters, looking forward and see that there is one person waiting for me...He Is about 33 years old, His pierced hands are waving and His Having a big smile at me...

I arrive but I kneel....and with that smile on His Face He Said..."My Boy, what took you so long?"...


Don't worry about how long your marathon is going to be just stay in the race. There will be front runners and "gate crashers" (like me) but we just need to stay in the race...for Him!
