ANGELS CAN BE THE DARNEDEST CREATURES! A Short Story Written by Dr. Rick McGrath, Ph.D. Angels can be the darnedest creatures. They come in all kinds of forms. Sometimes the appear in the physical form, though most of the time they stay in a more spiritual form unseen. That is unless you are really paying attention! Angels are used by God for several functions. Some are sent to take care of the dying. They help usher them into the heavenly realm. Children have later reported that when they were infants and on the verge of death, angels have held them and comforted them. Some angels are used as messengers to help with certain situations. Other times they are used as guardians of both church and individuals. Then there are the mighty warrior angels led by God�s Archangels. Powerful and ready to defeat Satan�s best! Unlike paintings that depict angels as charming children with wings, angels are anything but little and defenseless looking. They are mighty and possess great strength. We know they exist if not by personal experience, then certainly by the written works of the bible. All throughout the inspired writings, the authors have penned their experiences. All through the bible, angels are talked about. Great men of that time were visited by them. A good example is in Genesis. It talks about Lot who sees them along with the men from Sodom. As night falls, Lot invites the angels in to stay the night. The men of Sodom were a perverse bunch and wanted to have sex with the two men who were unaware who they were. All that mattered to them was satisfying their burning lust for sex with men. They were blinded by the angels who were messengers for God. They came to warn Lot and his family to leave because God was going to destroy such a perverse place. The book of Psalms says there are more than 20,000 angels all part of God�s mighty army. In the book of Revelation, angels are used to pour out God�s wrath on an unbelieving mankind. Angels continue their work everyday walking among us. For me, I have had several personal encounters with them, some seen, many unseen. I can always tell when there is one around especially when I am inside my home or in a building. A couple of noticeable changes happen in the air around me. Normally when I am in an open space there is a certain feel. When angels begin to inhabit the space, the physical space changes. It�s like going into a large room before everyone comes in. There is a certain feel. Once the room becomes filled with people it has another feel. Another noticeable sign is I usually can smell them. They have an aroma that is beyond description. It is so wonderfully different it can�t be described. You just know! The aroma is neither masculine nor feminine. It just is! I know skeptics would say it�s probably someone�s perfume or cologne that gives off the smell and floats by. If there were others around, I might concede. However, when sitting in a room alone with no perfume or cologne around, one has to consider the argument. I�ve seen outlines of rather large creatures almost as a bright shadow standing near by. I�ve also experience my rocking chair rocking so slightly, and the aroma was in the air. For the record I don�t believe in the ghost and strange either so I know it�s not that. I�ve been nudge out of harms way in and away from combat when no one was there. My wife has also seen and sensed our friends from above. Another experience was having been in several extreme car accidents where I have slammed into the other car and no damage to either car. It was as if there was something standing between us buffering the blow. Neither party could explain. Both parties excited no one was hurt and equally excited not even a scratch to the cars. Sometimes the unexplainable happens. To often we want to explain it as something else. God created them to look after us and to help us journey through a difficult world. For me and my family we believe, we know, and we are glad they�re there.
