PANDORA’S BOX

In times of ancient years long ago
The god’s above always at odds
Zeus gave the order, create woman
The first woman on earth the plan.

Greek mythology a curious report
There was Prometheus and his brother
When Prometheus stole fire for man
Zeus took revenge, with an evil plan.

Giving Pandora to the brother caused a stir
Now she his wife and a curious one at that
Like Adam and Eve with the knowledge tree
Never open this box to see what you can see.

Pandora, Pandora how beautiful you are
A good wife but one who quickly bores
Thinking it’s only a box, what’s to fear?
The gods gave her to much it’s clear.

While her husband was away for awhile
Pandora now finished with all her chores
Clothes all folded even their socks
She decided to open the pretty box.

All at once the evils of the world poured out
You released on the world great horror
Oh what have you done lady Pandora
Man will have to toil and harvest flora

“But I only opened it to see,” she said
I didn’t believe the warning I read
Wait, I see one more thing while she mope
In the bottom was man’s great gift of hope.

Though the box had been opened, evil released
Pandora gave man a hidden gift from above
Man was not left to fight evils all alone
There was the gift he needed most, hope!
