THE LIGHTHOUSE AND IT’S KEEPER

Oh lighthouse beacon for the sea
By night you shine your warning light
For miles away ship captains see
Even through the fog you radiate bright.

As waves crash along your rocky base
A warning of danger sounds stay away
Across the sea your light does race
Be careful when entering this bay.

Ships sale out and back in again
Navigating perilous waves they do well
Your light of safety guides them in
For yet another day they can say farewell.

A tower built so strong you stand
Your beam of light protects a mariner from fright
Built extending out from rock and sand
Each sailor looks to you in a stormy night.

Lighthouse Keepers man your horn
Send your signal if you may
Seaman of the sea you’ve been warned
It’s the sound telling you stay away.

Night after night from danger you protect
You speak your message to the sea
I am the lighthouse keeper bad weather I reject
No ships will sink, they are safe with me.

Oh lighthouse keeper you who care
Many a shipwreck there would be
If not for your faithful light a glare
A toast to you we raise in thankful glee.

I will not be detoured by storm or rain
My light will burn like a mighty flame
My sailors I keep safe even from the hurricane
Night after night, year after year I will remain.

Shine light into the night’s expanse
Ships sailing, for your horn they listen
Glimmering light like jewels on the sea they dance
Mindfully everyone to you they pay attention
I am a lighthouse, without me you’re taking a chance.
