Sunday 5/27/12 Pastor Michael sermon Empowered for Purpose-Its My Time! Matt 10:1-8

Jesus is empowering his disciples for purpose, not for fame or fortune. God is going to hold all of us responsible for how we spent our time on Earth. Jesus called on all types of people to be His disciples. He empowered them although they were folk nobody thought would be anything. They were not qualified but Jesus qualified them, empowered them for His purpose.

***Lessons of Empowerment***

1) Power to Prevail vs. 1, vs. 8

Jesus gave then authority and power over demons and to cast out sickness. He gave them authority, the ability to operate on Earth as He has been operating in Heaven. They which live in God’s purpose, He has given us the ability and authority to accomplish things that we would not normally be able to do. We are operating in Jesus’ power. We can say to stuff that used to keep us down, now we can say “get out of the way”!! We have power that we need to tap into. Tap into the Power! We are victorious! We got power and authority in Jesus Name!

The authority Jesus gave the disciples was not for them alone but was for His purpose. Jesus wanted them to heal people, raise folk from the dead so when Jesus left us, there would be Christians here. There would be more than one left behind to present the gospel. Jesus never leaves us and never left us! He is still here!

We are to activate the authority Not just have it to hold onto. We have to activate it. If when someone robs our house when we have a gun, if we don’t use it, they will steal the gun too. We need to pull the trigger. Activate our authority in Jesus Christ! Stop crying but seek the answer in the authority we have! Tell the devil to get our of our space! We have power over unclean spirits, over sickness, over leprosy. We have power over death and we can raise dead folk like Jesus did ! We have all power and authority from Jesus Christ!

There are some things in our lives that we can do ourselves thru the power God gives us. After we do our stuff then God will step in and do the impossible. When God speaks to our condition, its got to live! Its got to change! We got to speak to our situations in Jesus name and God will do the rest. Its our time! We are coming out of this! God will bring our miracle!

2) Power to Produce vs. 5-6

Jesus sent the disciples back to preach the gospel to the Jews who crucified and mocked him. Whatever God tells you to do, just do it. Even if it doesn’t make sense and you don’t understand it. Just do it! The disciples preached and produced Christians! So instead of us struggling with the things God asks us to do, Just Do It! Acknowledge God in all our ways and He will direct our paths! Hallelujah! Just Do It! Hallelujah!
Just Do It!
