To My Mother On Her Day


Mama, as all other days, I miss you today
Though it’s been fifteen years since you went away
I know you’re in God’s Heaven filling a coffee cup
As you did for all others before they could rise up

Your grand son misses as you much as I do
He is a good man now, a good father too
He came by today, took me out to eat
You would be so proud, how he turned out to be

My thoughts are with you a hundred times a day
I still miss you so much, I wish we could play
The way we did when I was a girl
Without you, it’s a lonely world

Mama, forgive me for all of my sins,
Happily, I straightened out before you gave in
To the horrible illness you suffered so badly
And went to your Maker who took you so gladly

On this Mother’s Day I ask God above
To sprinkle you softly with his amazing love
And tell you just how much you mean to me
I will see you one day, you just wait and see.
