MY NAME IS JESUS

“May I join you?”
“Sure if you would like, but how is it that you wish to wallow in this mud with me. I am working in these old clothes of mine that are already stained, and your clothes are so clean.”
“ I am working too. I came to give you something, but I must come down into the pit with you to give you what I have.”
“What is it, if I may ask”
“That which I wear my child”
“But wont it soon be muddied, as I am?”
“No, for I can even cleanse that which you are sunken in”
“Why cant I simply just climb out of this dirt and wipe myself off?”
“Because you would still wear all that it has placed upon you”
“I could wash myself clean, couldn’t I?”
“Only I can give you the water that quenches so that the stain will not remain”
Somehow I did not feel that I should argue when it seemed so logical to do so.
As he descended into the thick mud that I was completely submerged in, I began to introduce myself.
He gently stopped me with nothing more than a warm assuring smile that made me feel more secure than I have ever felt before.
“I already know your name son. I have always known it. I came to give you mine.”
Bringing no more than His Word into the pit, he gently said
“Here are your clean clothes.... My name is Jesus”
