In the mirror of my mind
I have never seen my true reflection
My voice is a distant resonance
My eyes rage with the fire of discontent
My heart aches for what is alive

With each breath I draw what is left of me
The exhale of temporal inevitability
Every tear erects the shed of denial
Each step I take measures my inability to walk alone
My travels are mere illusion
For lonely is the only road i have walked
And nowhere is the only place that I have been

Is this you, I ask myself?
Yes, I must reply
Saddened by such a retort
I drift further from any knowing

Then suddenly a light shines and my reply calmly changes
This was me but is no more
The image of anew brightens my coming days

Today is a new day and forever am I
For in God I now am able to speak
Shining through the light of His Son
My voice has shifted from the tone of my youth
And His Word now written upon my heart

The colors of the world have spawned those I have never seen
Nor could I before recognize
For I now see with the heart of Christ
The Reflection of hope gleams in my eyes
Spreading joyfully upon all who are near

Inside I ache no more
With His breath I am raised to life
In every tear is His joy
Over powering my sorrow
Somehow steadily to be no more
Until the somber things of this world can now only appear so sad

Each step I take
I feel he has carried me
And alone will never be mine again
My travels are now real
They have meaning that cannot be lost
That cannot be spoken by my word
Can never be explained within my voice

For this road leads me to one place
Where the written code could not carry
To the mediation of the Son
For the Glory of the Father
The promise given since the beginning
Given in a promise
Backed by an Oath
Through the Son
Where Gentiles share in sonship
Forever to live
In the new Jerusalem
Face to face with our God
In Heaven
