God didn't just tell us how to love. He showed us in the person of His Son,

"For God so loved the world that HE GAVE...." (John 3:16)and Jesus Christ of course was God manifested in the flesh. He came to this sin cursed earth and showed us how to love.

He told us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and our neighbor as ourselves.

You see the essence of love is giving "For God so loved the world that He gave..." and we are to give our lives for others in service, with our time, and our talents, our resources, for the kingdom of God.

With unrighteous mammon we are to win friends for the kingdom of heaven. Lule 16:9.

Christ loved by healing people which was a relief from their physical ailments but, moreover, it was to demonstrate that He was in fact God- that He had all power given unto Him in heaven and in earth; (Matthew 28:18) that he was able to heal, and it was to point to their need for spiritual healing.

What good is it, afterall, to be physically healed if we end up in hell? Mark 8:36; 1 Timothy 4:8

To be spiritually well is what is of ultimate concern. For if we are physically sick and have a dreadful, terminal disease and are spiritally cleansed and healed then we will be with the Lord when we die.

To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, if we are born again, which is the most important thing to keep in mind. 2 Cor. 5:8
