Do you ever have strongholds come up in your life preventing you from accomplishing your daily tasks? Maybe your car’s not running right or something’s come up which is a stumbling block to what you need to get done. Life is full of these kind of strongholds, and they seem to just somehow casually appear and get in the way. The Lord is our defender and fortress against these kind of attacks from the enemy, an enemy that tries to steal your peace and joy. The palmist writes “the Lord is my rock and my fortress, my deliverer and my God; my strength in whom I will trust.”

God indeed is the one to whom you can flee to for protection, confide and put your hope in. The book of Nahum writes that in the day of trouble the Lord is our stronghold. But this doesn’t mean He’s just on the defense and only playing inference for you. It seriously means He’s on the offensive to take down whatever’s coming against you today. For the fortress of the Lord is described as a net thrown out to capture those things trying to destroy your life. As a matter of fact, the original language says that the Lord is shamelessly bold, as in belligerent to come against the enemy to prevail on your behalf.

So look out devil, the Lord Jesus is a God with an attitude. If you choose to put your trust in Him today, He’ll snare and hunt down those daily strongholds that try to put you out of commission. For He is your fortress! By calling on Him in your day of trouble, you’ll have the victory. In the 22nd chapter of second Samuel it also says that The LORD is my rock and my fortress, and my deliverer; in Him I will trust.
