What Is Our Soul's Strongest Attraction?

What is our soul's strongest attraction? It behooves us to honestly ask ourselves this question which is a most serious question. Herein lies a challenge that, if we answer incorrectly, will mean our eternal damnation.

You see if your soul's strongest attraction is this world, fame, fortune, riches, honor, the praises of men or if your soul's strongest attraction is travel, luxury, entertainment, pleasure in whatever form it may take then your soul is undone.

If your soul's strongest attraction is any of these above mentioned things rather than the Lord Jesus Christ, that most blessed and sacred treasure hid in a field but which when a man finds he sells all then your soul is undone (Matt. 13:44). It is without hope. It is in a most miserable condition.

Blessings upon all those whose souls strongest attraction is the Lord Jesus Christ and His Father.

You see the Spirit indwells only those who are espoused to Christ, nay, who will be married to Christ. Many come near the Kingdom of God. They've been made partakers of the Holy Spirit. They've been enlightened (Heb. 6:4). Upon a person's baptism and profession of faith these things may all be true and yet such a one may fall short of salvation. Such a one may be a member in good standing in the local church, appear by all outward signs to be an outstanding Christian man or woman, quote lots of scripture, talk the language of salvation and of the saints and yet be far from God in his soul.

We must make our calling and election sure and the soul(2 Cor. 13:5) in order to have some assurance it's deliverance from death must be divorced from all things which compete against it's true interest, particularly against all manners of various lusts and of the law not as to obedience but as to it's source of righteousness. You see one who is not espoused or married to Christ seeks righteousness but seeks it from self or from the law and not from Christ.

We must be clothed in Christ's righteousness. Paul said,
And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:" Philippians 3:9

By trusting in Christ and making Him your all in all you're casting yourself upon His mercy, counting His righteousness to be all sufficient for your justification.

When a soul is truly united to Christ it will be like a man united to his wife or a wife united to her husband. The wife seeks her husband for who he is, for what he is, for himselof only and not for what he has, that is, not for his riches, or his house or his car. Likewise, the believer in Jesus Christ seeks God for who He is and for what He is, everything that He is, all of His attributes, His character, His forgiveness, His holiness, His love, His faithfulness, His mercy, His goodness, His justice, His omnipotence, His omniscience (the fact that God is everywhere present at once) This gives the believer true comfort to know that his sins have been forgiven. If a
person is forgiven much that same person will love much. Luke 7:47

Yes, the soul's strongesst desire must be Jesus Christ. Anything beside this is idolatry so check yourself professing Christian, professing believer.

Whom do you desire most?
