I get such a kick out of this thing called life
always something new it brings
And you find yourself going along with it's ploy
with a little humor, about bad things

Because when it hits you really have to think
now why did this come my way
minding your own business, and enjoying the sun
and expecting it to last all day

But remember the furnace has been quenched
and now flesh you are well done
After cooked in the furnace, fire of affliction
God says that battle has been won

You recall the temperature had been turned up
no getting away, from each flame
But the Lord he was, right there in the midst
and Yes! Jesus was his name

Oh there was tossing here, and tossing there
upside down, the tests did turn
All through the heat, each one had it's beat
but not a hair on the head was burn

Now we can look back at the furnace of affliction
and rejoice that we are still here
For everything we go through God has a purpose
if nothing else, it was to draw us near

So I'll take it forthwith, the best of intentions
look at face value what it did bring
And then get ready for the next bouts of life
and Jesus will be with me in the ring
