This day is upon us all! The much awaited day that all lovers look forward to. The key word that is celebrated today is ‘Love’. Love is known by many epithets. One could write books on love and still have so much to say about love. The Ace of all emotions. It reigns over the heart, mind and soul with a firm scepter.
It is the only emotion that helps us to unwind, de-stress and be our own selves. The fuel that keeps the heart moving, where love is a welcome hideout away from the cares of the world. The Crème De la Crème, this emotion is grandiosely crowned on Valentine’s Day. If red stands for love, purple for passion and pink for valentine, today is the tri-color day when we whisper the magical words ; “ I Love You.”

This season is pure heaven to express love in all its glory and enjoy the day while it lasts. There will be those who are able to celebrate this day close to their loved ones whereas for some others who are far away, they will recall the last meeting with the one whom their heart cherishes, when they had a glimpse of their loved ones. Truly, V-day was then for them when they re-charged the battery of love. Of course, love never diminishes with distance but to have been able to meet eventually face to face is the crowning point in life. Yes, love is not just for a day but this becomes ‘The day’ of all the days of love. When destiny gives us a chance meeting, out of the blue, it is a bonanza straight from heaven.

The beauty of love is that it can communicate and reach out in various ways and different names in order to never let the other feel lonely. Every valentine gift carries with it the love of the sender with the main heart intention of making the receiver happy, it bears the lingering imprint of love in an exclusive way. This is the sole aim of the sender.
Love is also an emotion which springs new feelings each day and it is a continuous learning process. It is not an easy emotion; perhaps the most difficult one at times. It leads the heart through a complex cycle spanning well into the folds of time. Yet the heart learns to conquer all.

Two months ago when I had traveled back home, as I was moving around my city, my eye was caught by an advertisement across various coffee joints which read; “A lot can happen over coffee”. Indeed! What a true statement! People can either meet or part over coffee, this drink that can warm cold days can either revive us or an excess of it can send our heart into a bizarre pattern. This is somewhat synonymous with love. Like coffee, it keeps our hearts warm and gives us an exhilarating feeling. However, on the contrary an excess will never do us harm. Today many couples will perhaps meet over coffee; maybe a new brand should be introduced exclusively for this season – ‘Valentine Coffee.’ The sweetest way to say “I Love You” could be over a cup of hot coffee or even a silent expression through the eyes can say it all. That one meaningful glance when eyes meet eyes can convey the greatest indication of the heart. For those who are far away from their loved ones, a cosy thought over a cup of coffee can do wonders to the heart.

We know that life is like an echo but even love can be equaled to this because when the heart gives love, it receives love in return and it is only when hearts combine that the true potential of love is known and felt. There are some who go through life thinking they have the perfect love story because it has been roses all the way for them, complete with rapture and joy. But, in reality, they have not yet touched the core of love. Because love is multi-faceted. To experience true love, one has to touch the depth of love, which can range from longing, anguish and pain.
At times, keeping ourselves away from the one we love in spite of loving passionately, silently loving, bearing the crown and thorns of love just as our beloved Savior did. He truly experienced love to the fullest even in the throes of agony.

As the world celebrates V-day across the globe, let the true message of love as given by our Lord not to be lost in all the excitement, fervor and glitz which surrounds this day.
