Sunday 2/12/12 Pastor Michael sermon -God”s Divine Design: Saved, Single and Satisfied in the City I Cor 7:7-8 , Gen 24:1-14

There are many single adults in this country today in 2012. More than half of the adults in our country are single. Today’s women, as seen in the hit TV series Sex in the City, are on the prowl for sex. Its not just men on the prowl anymore. The world seems to think that being single is the time to get crazy!

People have issue with being alone, separate and single. Adam was complete and perfect but he was alone. Yet he was a whole person. Singleness is NOT a curse! It is a blessing! Singles can come home and not cook if they want to, not clean up if they want to, devote all their time to bible reading if they want to. Singleness is a blessing. Singles don’t need to hurry to be married. Don’t Rush! People who are looking for folk to make them happy are dysfunctional. Run from them.!!! Run from people who say they need us to be their better half! We don’t want half people! We only want whole folk! When it is our time, the Holy Spirit will bring us our spouse. If the HS has to go to Africa and bring him back to us, then it will be so. We are to be content in the state that God has us in. Amen

Genesis 24:1-20 Abraham only wanted Isaac to have a wife of his own people. God does not want us marrying non-believers. Don’t take an non-believing spouse because their father is the devil!. Isaac was a 40 yr old virgin waiting on God to give him his wife. Isaac saved himself. We also can save ourselves and have a secondary virginity. This is when after we are saved, no one can touch us unless they put a ring on our finger! If a woman gives the “milk” to a man for free, the man won’t ever buy the cow!
Isaac waited because he knew it was not his time. God told Abraham to find his son a wife. Arranged marriages were in then and people had to trust God for the right spouse.

We have to wait on God and not try to do it ourselves. This will lead to a mess! People can live a satisfied, victorious life in Jesus! If we put our trust in Jesus, we won’t be let down. We can wait until our change comes! We need to be determined to do it God’s way and not compromise ourselves.! God will raise us up and take us to places we thought we would never be!
Satan knows when we are feeling lonely and will send an old flame- a Timmy, from our past to call us up. We will say Timmy who? He will say he is in town and wants us to show him around. We have a decision to make and say No! Timmy is not our destiny! Tell Timmy we are satisfied in the city with Big J. -- JESUS! When we start to struggle a bit, we got to Big J and he will get us straight again!

Gen 24:12-26 Rebecca came and gave the servant water and his camels too. She was cute but didn’t act too cute to serve others!. Rebecca was a service giving, help giving person. She served God and we need to keep on serving God too. If we continue to serve God , He will bless us. We need to get ready because those people who are serving God are about to get blessed!!
Rebecca had to speak to her father before she would go marry Isaac. We too have to go to God, our father, to make sure he or she is the right one for us. God is a rewarder to those that diligently seek him!
Praise the Lord!
