Why does one want to stay in the dark?
when light has been promised you
Is it fear that keeps one bound inside
so you can't enjoy the view
What will it take to make this break
from that corner of comfort you made
so you can breathe and see the beauty of life
now open up those closed dark shades
There is no joy in suffering for no reason
it's just a place to play safe and hide
Yes, things happened to make one this way
but ask yourself is this fun being inside
you are giving ground to the enemy
He doesn't care if you stay in there
for if free, God can use you for his work
to help others who need some kind of care
Please open your eyes and look around
and tell yourself you want to live
then God will meet you when you do
and a crown for your head he will give
The shallow grave is a means to an end
it holds no future, but only the past
so if only you will take that first step
you can have better days that will last
I too once lived in a shallow grave
it came easy to shut my eyes
and close down my heart and hide the key
and hovel behind walls so full of lies
God knocks on our doors in many ways
He doesn't give up but keeps on trying
now if that's not love, tell me what is
seeing he does it to keep you from dying
The Son is beckoning for you to come out
from that shallow grave you have dug
and let his peace and joy surround you
and even give you a great big hug
He will supply you, with new friends
a kind that will appreciate, what you do
He will even give you that perfect love
this is what he'll do for you
He will cast all your fears behind
and wipe your tears away too
now tell the shallow grave to give you up
for you have a lot of catching up to do
