Please don't put me in a box
Nor measure me to your expectations
I know I have many faults
Holes where there should not
I ask you to be patient
I am a work in progress
And my maker is the master craftsman
My creator is God

Accept me as I am
Even with all my spots
Cause I am shaped and sculpted
Into a classic work of art
For what I am is unique
Not meant to be repeated
There is no mold or die you see
He is making me free handed

You may not like what I am
Or what you see in me
But please don’t be judgmental
In what you see in me
Looks can be deceiving
For what you cannot see
Is what is formulating
Below this crusty surface

Look a little deeper
There may be more beneath
That could change your whole perspective
Of you see in me
God holds the manual about me
It is slowly growing and developing
Just waiting for that special day
That God provides the key
For that treasure I have inside
To finally be released

I choose to believe
That each and every person
Was created for a special purpose
The book is already written
I choose to follow my creator
And not the ideals of man
For the world has been overtaken
But never been forsaken
For it cannot corrupt our God
Or tarnish what He has taken

Please don't put me in a box
Nor measure me to your expectations
To do so would be folly
And lead you to frustration
I cannot be what you want me to be
Nor any other person
Cause we are all a work in progress
The ultimate creation
Of God the master craftsman

Hi Patricia, I enjoyed your poem very much. Yes indeed, He fashions our hearts individually and we are not formed from a mold. Thank you for sharing this with us.
