Air Force Sergeant Karen Mullins sat down to eat her meal before her friend Air Force Sergeant Alberta Cruz to as if she’d care to go to church services with her. It wasn’t her first time to make this request.

On this day, Sergeant Cruz seemed tired and with something pressing on her mind. “I’m kinda busy,” she responded. “I’m waiting for a call from home. My mom is not doing too well. I don’t think its life threatening but I’m a little worried.”

“Well,” Sergeant Mullins said. “I’ll be praying for your mother and you as well. …and Alberta would you pray for me?”

Alberta looked up from her meal with a puzzled look on her face. “Pray for you?” she responded. “Nobody has ever asked me to pray for them.”

Sergeant Mullins having finished her meal prepared to leave the dining facility. “I gotta run.” She could see that her friend was still pondering her request to pray for her. She felt that before too long Sergeant Cruz would be accompanying her to church services.


Prayer: Almighty Father, grant me the skill to reach out to others by using your teachings and
the servant spirit, and them asking for their help through prayer.
