Giving Thanks For Others


Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty!

---Proverbs 14:23 (NLT)

Melody Speers prepared to go to work in front of her home computer. She pushed the start button. Within a matter of minutes she was presented with a blue screen with a notice indicating a computer problem. “Maybe I didn’t properly exit the last time.” She shut the computer off, waited for roughly 5 minutes then turned her computer on once again. A red flashing message appeared indicating she had several dangerous viruses and worms.

“Now I’ll have t take my computer to repair shop to remove this,” she sighed. “I wonder how much money it’s going to repair this computer.”

“Don’t we have enough money to repair the computer?” asked Melody’s 14 year old daughter.

“Certainly, we have the money to repair it but I just hate paying good money for something that shouldn’t have happened.”

“Yeah, I know mom. But computer viruses happen. Viruses mess up computers. If you don’t get the computer fixed, it’s not gonna work and you won’t be able to earn any money. And when we get stuff fixed, we support others who work to fix and repair things. I’m thinking that people who repair stuff need money too.”

Melody looked at her daughter then considered what she had said. Since that talk with her daughter, Melody thought of and considered all of the people involved in the repair service industries. Though Melody still considered the repair of her devices a major irritant, she now faces the service industry with a prayer of gratitude for those whose livelihood repairs the machines and items we depend upon on a daily basis.

Prayer: Almighty and Omniscient Father, I thank You for seeing to all of my needs enough
to bless me with the skills of others that they may fix the things I need on a daily
basis and may provide for their livelihood from the bounty You have given me.
