Do you recall the fairy tales you were told when you were a child? Sitting and listening to them by various adults used to make me near nauseated. Even at a very young age I lived in the real world and had little use for fermented maple syrup stories. Imagine my surprise when I came across this little gem by Margaret Bonnaro:

“It is only possible to live happily ever after on a day by day basis.”

I wonder where she got the idea? Her mother? I hardly think it would have been her dad, but strange things do happen in life. The Great Blonde opined the idea may have its origin in The Sermon on the Mount where Jesus taught us to ask for daily bread. My son, Dr. Jon Lilly backed up his supposition that the saying has its roots in the account of the children of Israel’s wandering in the wilderness and only being able to shop early each morning in a Deli that featured two products Quail and Manna. God supplied for His people in this manner due to the fact there were no refrigerators at that time and they would have been too heavy to lug around with them. He further posited that the allowance for a two day’s supply over the weekend was according to the Hebrew due to much cooler weekends. Doctorates are good.

It is impossible to store up enough on any given day for the journey of life. Life, and the things of life require regular nourishment, be the nourishment food, or love and expressions of love, loyalty and presence. Psalms 118:24 “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Today requires this.
