AT A LOSS FOR WORDS

I’ve often wondered why it is so hard,
To say the things I feel.
Or why I seem to lose my way,
Describing love that’s real.
I’ll say a phrase or quote a verse,
All the while my heart conceal,
What I truly hope my actions show,
Though my words cannot reveal.

“I Love You” is a simple phrase,
Aw but you’ve heard that one before.
And what I feel, “ that something special”,
Deserves oh so much more .
So I’ll search the endless card racks,
For the key to open my hearts door,
In hopes I find the special words,
The ones I keep in store.

“Just Because” I’ve grown to like,
It says so much in just one phrase,
But still my thoughts of you somehow,
Seem to end up in a maze.
I know the tiny little things,
That show I love you in so many ways,
But then I stumble thru some words,
When I try to sing your praise.

So I’ll hold your hand and snuggle close,
And hope that I can show,
Though my words seem oh so helpless,
That by my actions “I love you so.”
And I’m sure the very next time,
I feel this way the words won’t flow.
But inwardly I’ll have a glow,
As closer together we’ll grow.
