Imagination running
Through narrow dim lit halls,
Building in my mind
Strong impenetrable walls.

Fretting and struggling
With those images unreal,
Held a prisoner of my mind
I am making this appeal.

Fire breathing dragons
In the dungeons of my mind,
Spewing desolation
Of a fiery kind.

Seeing how my hopes
Can so quickly turn to dust,
I have to turn my fancy
To the God in whom I trust.

Rising from the ash heap
Of gloom and grim despair,
I now can see the sunlight,
That once was just not there.

I now can see that ignorance,
Is a darkness....the unknown?
Keeping one a prisoner,
In ignorance of it's own.

Binding one in chains
As strong as any steel.
With imaginary things
Things that are not real.

Transcending out of darkness
Into marvelous light.
Ignorance no longer holding us
A captive of the night.

Now I suddenly was startled
By such a work of art,
That God had etched in Spirit
On the tablet of my heart.

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
(1 Peter 2:9)

(This poem is trying to depict that our minds when closed, can become an iron clad prison keeping us a prisoner of our own ignorance. Facing that fiery struggle of trying to break free from false doctrine, or false teaching etc. Sometimes it is not always that easy to get away from. For too long I walked in some false conceptions thinking that I was right, just to have God point out to me that I was wrong. As a Christian, it is not always easy to break those chaines of darkness. Nevertheless it is always so glorious to come into new light, and new truth as revealed by the Holy Spirit.)
