HOW TO RECEIVE FROM GOD

We often come to a point in life where we need the help of God, and do so urgently. Despair sets in because we just do not know how to approach God and get Him to answer our prayers. We may have a long list of unanswered prayers and we have come to the point where we do not know exactly what Christ meant when He said that God would answer all our prayers when we pray in His name.

The bible is full of scriptures that promise answers to prayers for believers. So what happens when we realise that we are not receiving from God despite our best efforts.

First we need to realise that God is not Santa who dishes out goodies to expectant little children. If you are not receiving from God, the culprit is always poor relationship with God. If you have the right relationship with God, He will definitely show you how to receive from him. Check your relationship and ask Him to teach you how to pray.

To improve our relationship with God, we need to check if our hearts are right with God. We need to find out if we are living in sin. Sin is the most common hindrance to receiving from God. If we are living in sin, we need to repent our sins. Any Christian can sin as the word of God says. By careful study of the bible and right instruction, we will always know when we have sinned. Confessing and repenting our sins releases power.

After we confess our sins, we need to maintain fellowship with God by daily reading His word, and prayer. When our time of need comes, we need to go to God with a gift. Do not show up before God empty handed. God requires us to show up before him bearing something. If you are not endowed materially, do not think God is shutting you out. You may have time on your hands. You can show up before Him with good works that you have done. A humble and contrite heart God will not despise. That is also something to show up before God with.

After you have given unto God, make your requests and joyfully expect to receive from the Lord. Praise God in every circumstance, and thank Him for all things. Rejoice always.
